intro

GM GM. Welcome to the first edition of the ENS HQ newsletter.

Our goal is to become the #1 newsletter for the ENS domain name space.

We all know that keeping up with everything going on in web3 is impossible. Just too much info. With ENS, it’s even worse. Almost everything is on Twitter, and unless you’re willing to spend 6 hours a day on Twitter, there’s no chance you can keep up. (We know many of do spend 6-12 hours a day on Twitter, we tip our hat to you).

With ENS HQ, you won’t have to spend crazy twitter or spending all your time on Spaces. We got you. We’re going to bring all the ENS news you need, and none that you don’t.

Probably still a good idea to be on Twitter frequently whenever you can, but just know that the ENS HQ Newsletter has got you covered.

ens-this-week

Biggest news of the last week was the massive bidding by the holder of Bored Ape 2523 on the ENS domain 2523.eth. The bid was 20eth, and was not accepted! The current holder owns the Crypto Punk 2523, and wants 2523.eth for the same reason the BA holder wants it. Given the current pricing on the 10k club domains, these random 4 numbers should be worth no more than 2eth today. Yet the BA holder offered 20eth, and the current holder still won't sell, even at a 10x premium. This is exactly the kind of thing we in the ENS community have been predicting will happen that doesn't happen in PFP NFTs. That is, these are 1-of-1s, so there is no other way to have the number you want. You can't just sell and buy a different version; there is only one. Which means the price is whatever the current holder is willing to let it go for. This will cause certain domains that multiple wealthy people want to go for an extremely high amount, more than anyone would think they're worth. But that won't be relevant. The only relevant info is how badly each party wants it, and that's how high the price will go.I wrote a thread about this in more detail. You can click the tweet and read the whole thing.
