Jack Butcher continues to buy ENS names of his projects
5/17/23
GM GM!
Tons of positive developments over the last two weeks in the ENS space.
Let’s get right into them!
Jack Butcher buys openen.eth for 2eth
chale.eth wrote on Twitter that he was trying to sell it for 2eth and was surprised it hadn’t been bought at that price.
I responded that Jack would definitely buy it at that price due to him being a huge ENS fan and having paid 10x that for checks.eth
Sure enough, less than a half hour later, he bought it.
Jack is the perfect steward for ENS; a true artist and builder doing unique things in the Web3 space. No rug pull issues, just like ENS.
Supporting people like this is exactly what the Web3 space needs to do. And seeing him also support ENS is just icing on the cake.

Ledger is officially supporting and promoting their ENS integration
While we got a sneak peek at their integration about a month ago from luc.eth, they are now officially posting on Twitter about how much more valuable it is to use an ENS name vs a random string of characters.
While they are also getting a ton of heat at the same time due to a new seed recovery plan, it’s still great to see such a large company pointing out what’s so obvious to all of us in the ENS community.
Does your wallet address look like "xftyuui002jk764i…"?
Why not use @ensdomains to give it that personal touch – and make it easier to remember?
👉 You will get a “yourname.eth” address.
Sweet & simple.

WorldCoin is integrating with ENS
This one is a bit more controversial, but a big deal nonetheless.
WorldCoin is a massive project attempting to prove personhood in a world of advanced AI. When AI can look like a human and do tasks like a human on the internet, how do you prove who is a person vs an AI?
This is definitely a real problem, and they are a huge company with the resources to solve it. Including having Sam Altman, founder of OpenAI involved.
Whether they are doing something noble or sinister in relation to privacy, I don’t know yet. I have not done enough research on the topic.
But they are integrating with ENS, which should just be another feather in ENS’ cap about how many major Web3 projects are integrating it.

Ben.eth raises $6 million on Twitter for $PSYOP token
This one is bad news for Web3, but good news for ENS
Twitter influencer ben.eth has been promoting two shitcoins in the last two weeks, $Ben and $Psyop.
He is pretty clearly not someone that should have trust from the crypto community, yet he was able to raise so much money. Why?
Many in the ENS space argue it’s due to his ENS name, ben.eth.
Having such an obviously great ENS name implies status in the space, as well as either being extremely rich or early to the crypto space.
If he had a random name, or especially was not using an ENS name at all, it is highly unlikely he would have been able to raise so much money.
Just another example of the value of a great ENS name. Hopefully the next person with a great name can be involved in a project that is actually beneficial in some way to the space, and not harmful like this one.
(1/3)
So twitter hasn’t stopped talking about Ben.eth and his presale.
This has to be some of the best ENS marketing we’ve seen.
4+ million raised simply by saying “Send ETH to Ben.eth”
Pretty easy right?
I’d say majority did it just because of how easy it is.

Hello, I'm Cap, and I have an addiction.
I unintentionally write excessively long articles about the things I love (like @ensdomains) that very few want to read. 🤷♂️
But you’ll want to pay attention to this one.

ENS is one killer app away from being meta
Best part? It can come from anywhere
Could be as simple as a viral web3 game that requires a .eth to play
With leaderboards so anyone in the world who plays the game will see your name at the top
THINK ABOUT IT

First name
or
last nameAnswer: it depends on your goal.
First name 🟰 status
Last name 🟰 utility

I started investing in ENS in 2020 when nobody cared about it
Secondary market volume was pretty much non-existent for another 2 years, but I patiently kept adding to my collection
The most boring times are the ones with the most opportunity. Now it's not any different.
